Spinach Missi Roti (Wheat & Chickpea flour flatbreads)

Traditionally this is an Indian flat bread/tortilla but just making it a bit healthier for kids by adding spinach or other veggies to it. Its quick and easy dish and great for breakfast or for school lunches.


Vegetarian | Vegan

Ingredients

2 cups Wheat Flour / Atta

4 tbsp Chickpea flour / Besan

2 tsp Turmeric Powder

3 tsp Coriander Powder

2 tsp Garam Masala

2 tsp Cumin seeds / Jeera

2 tsp Carom seeds / Ajwain

2 tbsp Oil

1 cup Spinach

2 Green Chillies (optional)

salt to taste

Water as required, to knead dough

(Add other shredded veggies or add millet flour to make it even more healthy) .




Instructions

- Grind spinach (and other veggies, if any) and green chillies into a paste.

- In a large mixing bowl take wheat flour and add chickpea flour, spinach-chili paste, all spices and salt.

- Mix well and then add 1 tbsp oil mix again.

- Add some water , if needed and knead the mixture into a dough.

- Add 1 tbsp of oil and knead the dough for about 4-5 minutes into soft dough like for chapathi/ dinner rolls.

- Rest the dough for 5-10 mins covered with damp cloth and make missi roti similar to how paratha/ tortilla is made and serve hot with raita or pickle. Enjoy!!
