Sambhar is a delicious South Indian lentil and vegetable stew that pairs well with steamed rice , roti and other south indian delicacies. A staple in most south indian kitchens , this spice mix is a recipe from my mother in law’s kitchen.
Ingredients
1 cup Coriander seeds
3 tsp Urad Dal
1/4 cup Chana Dal
2 tsp Methi/ Fenugreek
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp Jeera/Cumin
8-10 Red Chillies
Instructions
1. Roast all ingredients individually
2. Grind chillies first with mustard, cumin and fenugreek
3. Add coriander to above ground powder
4. Add both daals next and grind.
5. Store the powder in airtight container for 1-2 months
