Mooli Subji (Radish Curry)

A simple dish from mother/grandmother‘s thats really yummy and very easy to make and pairs well roti or dal chawal(lentil rice).

Ingredients

2 large radish/diakon, chopped (~2.5 cups)

1/2 tsp turmeric

2 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tbsp curry leaves

1/2 tsp dry mango powder/ amchur

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tbsp chopped radish leaves (if available) or coriander leaves

2 tbsp chickpea flour/ besan

pinch of asafoetida

1 tsp oil

salt to taste


  • In a pan, heat oil on medium high then add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add asafoetida and curry leaves.

  • Now, add the radish, salt and cook with lid on for 2-3 minutes.

  • Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder, chilli powder, garam masala, radish leaves (if available) and mix well.

  • Cook the mixture for 3-4 minutes or till oil starts leaving the sides. Add chickpeas flour and mix well. Cook covered for 2-3 minutes.

  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or dal-rice and enjoy !
